Workshop #1 Herbal Infused Oils

Service Description

In this workshop, we will learn to create nourishing, healing oil infusions with dandelion blooms, and violet flowers and leaves that I’ve been gathering from the land in Upstate New York. They are gently wilting as we speak. We will talk about the properties and benefits these two plant allies have to offer us - you will never think of dandelion as a weed again! - and the practice of foraging, working with wild plants, and details of creating infused oils. You will walk away with the knowledge of how to create an oil infusion and hopefully an appreciation for all that Mother Nature has to offer us and how simple it is to work with her to create our own glorious products. TELL ME MORE ABOUT THESE INFUSED OILS Infusing oils is one of the most ancient and sacred practices. This is NOT an essential oil, it is a ‘carrier’ oil that saturates the plant matter for some period of time before being strained. The oil then holds the properties of that plant and can be used for countless healing or beauty traditions. One of those is incorporating the oil with solids to create a salve - that’s Workshop #2. But the infused oil is such a beautiful, sensual lady in her own right! Some of my favorite ways to work with her are: as a body oil after a shower, straight up in a bath for some luxurious moisturizing goodness, and mixed with some sugar to create a gentle scrub. HOW DOES THE WORKSHOP WORK? You will receive a box of all you need in advance of the workshop (details below). We will meet live on Zoom and get our plants and oils started on their infusion process. It takes some time for the magic to happen, so you will need to care for your oils for about 2 weeks. We’ll go into all the details of storage and straining so you will be ready for the next steps! No worries if you can't make it during the scheduled time, everyone that registers will receive a recording. And also a link to materials with details about these generous plant friends and step-by-step instructions to review or print for future reference. WHAT WILL I RECEIVE IN THIS BOX? - dried dandelion blooms - dried violet flowers and leaves - two 4 oz glass mason jars and lids - one 4 oz glass bottle of organic grapeseed oil - one 4 oz glass bottle of organic avocado oil - two labels - two pieces of cheesecloth WHAT WILL I NEED FROM MY OWN HOME? a small plate or towel to set your oils on while they are infusing a sunny spot to store your oils a glass jar for straining your oil
